3D INNOVATION: Cherry and Lime - With a Sting!

Cherry and Lime are a new animation studio based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In order to virally advertise their company and it's Ethos they invited students at the University of Ulster to create short animations. I chose the brief as the concept of creating a short quirky animation sounded fun and engaging and it was important in my final year to work on projects that I would enjoy. There were a number of different processes I went through from concept generation (sketchbooks etc.) through to thorough storyboarding (can be seen below, images created using illustrator). Personally this was one of my favourite projects to date, despite the various difficulties I experienced throughout the project.

Meet the characters! :D
Storyboards!

SNEAK PEEK!
ANIMATION COMING SOON!!
As this was a live brief for University I am not permitted to release the animation until it has been seen by the client and they will choose their favourite to be used as part of a viral campaign on various social media platforms. As soon as the client presentatation has been completed I will post the outcome here for all to see. During this project there were several learning curves I had to overcome one of which being the fact I had never used CAT (character animation tools) before and there was a lot to learn. Of course I did not master the techniques quite yet, although I managed to succesfully rig and animate my first complete 3D character including facial animation (using morph targets). All 3D content was created using 3dsmax and I incorporated some 2D work produced in Illustrator.
Thanks for checking out the project, goodbye from me and my characters! :)
