I created this book cover design for Malorie Blackman’s novel Noughts & Crosses as part of the Penguin Student Design Award 2018.
Brainstorming ideas for the cover design
I based the design on DNA, hence the chromosome forms in the cover, because the book deals with racial themes and race is determined by one’s DNA.
The target audience was young adults so I chose a dark colour scheme to appeal to the audience.
I used a sans serif font to keep to the modern and futuristic feel of the cover and story theme.
