Ukrainian culture has blossomed over the last 25 years of Ukrainian independence, and especially in the last ten - but without drawing commensurate international attention. Abroad, most are unaware of Ukraine's cultural trends, while holding an incomplete image of Ukraine as a society of vyshyvankas, borscht, and hay-roofed hatas.The Ukrainian: Life And Culture introduces young English speakers to the leading edge of Ukraine's contemporary culture, and emphasizes its deep European connections.

Think of our print magazine as a tour guide: a way to know contemporary Ukraine without ever traveling there, or to fall in love with Ukraine and yearn to travel there, or just to relax at home and delve into the mysteries of this ancient but very modern European country.
The Ukrainian: Life And Culture is published by Ukrainian Cultural Initiatives, Inc.,
a Section 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our educational mission is to document Ukraine's contemporary arts, letters, scholarship and culture.
