Bringing the world into the classroom with TED-Ed clubs
What is a TED-Ed club?
TED-Ed is a category of TED talks which is an educational initiative to celebrate the ideas of students around the globe. The TED-Ed Clubs program supports students in discovering, exploring and presenting their big ideas in the form of short, TED-style talks.

Structure of a Standard TED-Ed Club Program

A standard TED-Ed Club program consists of an educator who gets materials and a hands-on orientation from the TED-Ed staff and leads the club through a series of 13 meetings, designed to get students to think and absorb. For the first three meetings, students watch TED Talks, discuss them and begin to think: Which ideas have captured my imagination? From there, students learn how to frame their ideas and present them in a TED-style talk. In meeting 11, students give their talks in front of the club and, in the next meeting, work on editing their video. As a final step, these talks are uploaded to the TED-Ed YouTube channel while some may even be featured on the TED-Ed website.

7 Benefits of TED-Ed Club

1.    A student as a speaker gains confidence and learns to express his/her ideas.
2.    He/she learns to develop ideas, manage time and present a speech. TED-Ed provides a platform and throws challenges to him/her.
3.    A deeper understanding of the subject. Students become more confident individuals.
4.    With a variety of topics discussed by the speakers, students in the audience get an opportunity to experience broadness and diversity of ideas and views.
5.    Opens mind and feeds creativity. The platform celebrates smartness and articulation.
6.    An absence of presenting grades or special commendations to students for their work as it promotes inequality.
7.    Students often have busy lives outside of school that affect their learning capability such as health problem, home environment, neighbourhood, etc. Such complications result in irritability, sleeping disorders and negative thoughts. Topics like these also have a healthy space at TED-Ed.
