Baltischer Ritterschaften Wappen Kalender: 1902-2018.

The Baltischer Wappen Kalender from 1902 contains beautiful renditions of some of the German-Baltic noble families heraldic achievements. I will create my own interpretations of some of them at least – hopefully, perhaps in time, all of them.
The original Baltischer Wappen Kalender from 1902 contains many beautiful renditions of family crests of the German Baltic nobility – the style is typical german heraldry in general and early 1900's german heraldry in particular: it manages to express rigidity and flamboyance at the same time.
The Orgies-Rutenberg noble family are descended from German knights that took part in the baltic crusades during the 13th century. The Orgies were raised to nobility in Courland (part of modern day Latvia). After a while they came to use the double name of Orgies-Rutenberg. The three black "diamond-shapes" ("Lozenge" in Anglo-Norman - i.e. English heraldic terminology) are called "Rauten" in German heraldry.

This is the first coat of arms from the Baltischer Wappen Kalender from 1902 that I have painted my own interpretation of. I hope to be able to paint some more of these German Baltic achievements as I have not seen them done by many heraldic artists.
Work in progress: Maydell family arms.
