Metamorphosis Sideboard
The first of the series. We took a Diamond Sideboard, which is by far the most iconic piece from Boca do Lobo, and just started hammering it. We looked for a corrosive look, like the pieces have been eaten by bugs, but instead of rotten we went for gold. Every broken corner of the piece was filled with hand-hammered brass contrasting the high-gloss black lacquer.
Both the base and the bugs were made in casted brass. The base resembles a cutted wooden log from a sort of magical tree. The Bugs were casted in fine brass, the same technique used to reproduce jewelry pieces. Their composition portrays a epic battle where the black niquel bugs are trying to annihilate the golden guardian figured as a scorpion.
