Windsor chair
Year one of Product Design BA - making a Windsor chair.
We had to build a lathe and a shaving horse and using draw-knives and ogors make a chair out of logs. No electric tools allowed. We worked as a team of three and from our design we built our chair of pine and bitch logs. 100% HAND-MADE.
I've rendered our chair after the completion of it for documentation and the schematics of construction in the project logbook.
Although it does have quite a few imperfections and deformations, it is still a success as it is fully functional, comfortable to sit on and withholds weight of a large Scotchman (a.k.a. our tutor). I especially like the rustic texture of old reclaimed wood (old house beams) and the natural organic pattern on the seat.
