"Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds."
Inspired by the words of J. Robert Oppenheimer after he helped create the atomic bomb and realized its horrific potential, Oppenheimer is a short film I created as my senior thesis at Ringling College of Art + Design.
Using paint, ink, milk and water to distort live action, public domain and CG footage, I created an abstract examination of Oppenheimer's words - culminating in the realization of a Vishnu god whose multi-armed form constricts rather than frees.
It was essential to ensure each scene contained an image that was not only symbolic and reflective of power, destruction and regret, but also emotionally provocative.
