Intiale b.v. successfully sells the Pascale luminaire. This product is purchased and also offered by other parties. By developing a luminaire itself, a distinctive product is created and a link in the chain eliminated. At the same time, improvements are implemented so that a strong product is created. This luminaire is used for illuminating halls, flat galleries, and stairwells.

Analysis phase
Every project starts with collecting information. This concerns the Analysis phase of the redesign of the gallery luninaire. The following investigations have been carried out:
- Usage situation
- Market analysis
- Form research
- Product analysis
This shows that it is important to improve the design and reduce the maintenance time. All conclusions are processed in the List of Requirements The list is the framework within which it will be designed.

Concept phase
After the necessary research, the designer lets go of nearly everything to let creativity run free. Inspiration is consciously sought and found with different instruments. The first forms are explored with hand sketches. After a selection of sketches, the shapes are easily set up in 3d-cad. The necessary volume and castability of the container and window are taken into account. The main forms are fairly concrete and ready for presentation. Here we chose a compact and curved design in which the head flows gracefully towards the body.
Now that the design has been chosen, the development can be started.

Materialisation phase
At this point it comes down to whether the design can actually be made. Connections that seem ostentatious details still determine the viability of the concept. For example, the shape dictates that the silicone gasket does not sit in container but in the window. With this, the luminaire deviates strongly from its competitors. This has the additional advantage that the design is patentable. To make room for the screw connection, the front end must give way to an inwardly facing lip. After some firm modeling work, a first model can be printed 1:1. The prototype is assessed on:
- General design
- Strength and stiffness
- Sizing
- Fitting the parts
- Water resistance
- Connecting electronics
- Points of attachment

After some adjustments the technical drawings are made in order. Only critical dimensions are indicated with corresponding tolerances. The rest is fixed in the included cad model and send to a mould production facility for further investigation of the castability.
