South Hall Dormitory
Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont
South Hall shapes a new quadrangle. A monumental stair connects the residence hall to the main campus and incorporates a “breezeway” linking the stair to the new quadrangle. Additionally, a pedestrian bridge connects the site with the Upper Parade Ground, home of the military housing and the historic heart of
the campus. This 5-story dormitory includes 101 double-occupancy and 79 single-occupancy rooms in two double-loaded corridor wings, for a total of 281 beds. Each wing includes a RA room, quiet study lounge and toilet/shower rooms. Each floor shares an open public lounge, an enclosed TV/ music lounge, and a kitchenette. In addition to dorm rooms, the ground floor includes the Residence Director’s apartment
and a fitness center. Bike and luggage storage as well as the laundry are in the basement. This project is LEED Gold.
