The brief for this project was to " design a tool or appliance that will aid to improve social interaction between family members within a kitchen environment." These set of digital weighing scales are designed to deliver fun tutorials to adults and children alike, to get children back in the kitchen enjoying learning a valuable life skill whilst spending quality time with their parents. The user will then be able to buy a number of fun recipe books to accompany the product. Within each recipe book, there are numerous removable pages with chips embedded into them. The user simply slots the page with the recipe they want to cook into the side of the scales. Select the number of people they are cooking for, the scales then calculates the correct quantities of ingredients and the users simply follow the fun tutorials to cook the meal. The scales are portable in addition with the help of an internal battery allowing the product to be used outside with bbq's or when camping.
