The Volcom Artist Series Competition 2009, was a great motivator for me to create something truely unique for the art-prize and to further develop the series of experimental work I have entitled ‘Crystal Ink’. Crystal Ink expresses the use of fractal paradigms rendered in an experimental style, symbolizing growth, nature, and illusion. The basis of the design 'Crystal or Stone', was built from the Volcom stone, where I started with the basic structure and then fragmented and expanded the line work into a detailed composition. The original drawings are on art paper, scanned and then digitally artworked for the final.
