PAWS
In 2009, my cousin Luís Rodrigues asked me if I could help him create a logo and the visual identity for a project that he was doing.
He is a Bio-mechanical student and at the time he had a subject called Biomimetics which is the study of the structure and function of biological systems as models for the design and engineering of materials and machines. It is widely regarded as being synonymous with biomimicry, biomimesis, biognosis and similar to biologically inspired design.
The project in hands was Mountain Climbing Shoes based on certain animal PAWS, in this case the Leopard, the Mountain Goat and the Gecko Lizard.
The logo, with the Helvetica font, resulted from the combination of these animal patterns, creating a simple, funcional, "sporty" feel to it.
