The project aims to tell a visual history of culture and architecture of Penang shophouses
that celebrates the influence from both eastern and western.

However, these heritage shophouses are taken for granted; not valued nor appreciated, demolished in the name of development. The living traditions of
traditional artisans started to lose their home. Mainly caused by the ignorance about the origin and history of these ingenious architecture.

Therefore, the idea 走走。Kia Kia encourages people to explore, wander and rediscover the city. There is so much more behind the colourful, highly
decorated facades; the eye-catching colourful geometric patterns tiles plastered across the wall and floor of the kaki lima. Thus, by exploring, people are
able to indulge themselves in the walk, disconnect to connect with the heritage sites and discover its value.
