The beginning of this collaborative project was assigned to all students. Everyone had to choose a story or fairytale to update into the world of today. We created rough storyboards and digital sketches to pitch to the class. Stickers for first, second, and third best were given to us, in order to select the four best ideas to work on. Mine was selected, and those that put first place stickers on mine got to work under my direction on the vision.

 

The vision was rustic and sketch, to give a bit of a worn, historic element to the design. The colors give a more present-day vibrance to the piece, and the type choice gives a hint of collegiate boldness to the phrases.

 

This project was a challenge and a joy for me, because I finally was given some power over my peers!

Truthfully, we worked as equals throughout the process, with me just adding bits of information and offering help to make the series looked cohesive. It was difficult conveying the true story of Hercules as a typical student surviving college, but we discussed and sketched and refined what ideas we had to make the best of it!
