Dogs of New York City
Inspired by my desire for a canine companion, and informed by the work of Magnum Photographer Elliott Erwitt, and more contemporary photographer Tim Flach, Dogs of New York City is a photographic exercise scratching my itch for a furry friend. Following dogs around the city - watching what they sniff, what they bark at, what they pee on - allowed me to use the camera as the eye of another dog on the street. With sometimes fast-moving subjects and a low-to-the-ground perspective, a number of these images achieve the spontaneity and movement of a dog in the parks and sidewalks of New York. These, accompanied by more technically formal portraits ground this project into a cohesive body of work.
