The concept of Career Motivated Learning Tool

The Career Motivated Learning Tool is a Web application that provides users the ability to search and access free online educational resources that match their career interests.

Our application allows users to see what skills are needed for different jobs. Users can search and navigate useful online educational resources to prepare themselves for the specific job that they are interested in.

The application will draw career related data from LinkedIn Skills and Experience Directory, LinkedIn Industries Directory, and LinkedIn user profiles. Every selected skill triggers the application to retrieve related Wikipedia articles and educational videos from YouTube's Education and How-to categories.

How it works?

Users can enter specific skill keywords and then the system shows skills that match that query. Each skill has a page with related free online educational resources (Wikipedia articles and YouTube videos), related skills, and jobs that involve that skill. Users can enter a job title and the system shows a list of skills for that job. Users can explore the skills and jobs associated with various industries by browsing the industries catalog.

1) Browse by Industry Category

If the user does not know what career they want or what skills they want to learn, they could use our industry directory to browse what kind of areas interest them. Each industry page includes a list of related skills and a list of related jobs.

2) Search by Skill Keywords

The user enters skill keywords in the “Search by Skills” search box at the top of any page. Based on the keywords, the Skill Page shows related learning resources, which includes the Wikipedia article for the skill and related educational YouTube videos. The page also includes a list of “Related Jobs” that involve this skill and a list of related skills.
