Landlubbers Exhibition 2010

"Howl is our weekly live music night, every Thursday night we take our little coffee shop and turn it into a nightclub (think Roxys in the 1990s, yip its epic) and we listen to the best and most interesting new music from around Johannesburg.

This Thursday were kicking it up a notch.

Not only is Alex & Her (our very first Howler ever) bringing his folkjol to the Wolves main stage again and Joburg rock band morrisonarmy are doing an unplugged set but Says Who Studios (a new little design and illustration collective) are putting up some of their pictures for everyone to marvel at.

Music for your ears.
Art for your eyes.
Cake for your mouth. Now weve just got to think of something for your nose. BRB.

As usual, entrance is free but dont forget about that compulsory tip jar! Bring cash for cream sodas, cake and pretty art things. Safe and convenient parking is available on the cnr of North and Oxford roads."

Below are the works that I created for this exhibition. These works were created in Adobe Illustrator and then printed to canvas. There was no particular theme.

+ The Crystal Castles piece was created while I was listening to their track 'Suffocation' a lot.
+ The piece of Sarah Keevy was done purely because it was suggested that it would be cool if I drew her.
+ The 2010 FIFA World Cup just finished here in South Africa and I created two pieces that represented two of the most powerful moments that I experienced amidst the footy fever - one being Asamoah Gyan missing the penalty against Uruguay; the other being Mesut Özil & Thomas Müller (in fact, the whole of the young German squad) destroying England and Argentina.

These are very brief descriptions, if you feel like discussing it in more depth, email me and I'll be happy to tell you what was going through my head.
 "Suffocation"
 "Quiet Compliments"
 "The Sound of Heartbreak"
 "Deutschland Duo"
