Link Diversity In SEO And Search Engine Ranking

The Days Of Link Diversity In SEO And Search Engine Ranking Are Gone
When many hear of link diversity especially in ranking a certain site and SEO, they tend to get excited and wholesomely accept its concept without even having background information about it. Well, eras and time are passing away very fast and what was relevant some years back may not be relevant this year. This calls for a watch out on the trending news and information that are resultant of the advancement. But the big question is, is this concept of link diversity still relevant in ranking sites and in SEO process? Well, let’s face it and crack out this hard nut.

It has been long that people have misunderstood the concept of link diversity and somehow they are using it for some manipulation. But what really is link diversity? This is a strategy where you obtain links from various domains or from a variety of pages. Some domains include .Edu, .com, .net etc. while pages may be from articles, other brandy links, and directories. We can also say that link diversity is a strategy of obtaining vast anchor text from “do follow” and “no follow” links. This concept basically makes the backlink pattern of the page look normal and non-spam.
It is the backlinks that make your site look natural which will consequently help it free from being classified as a spam. It helps it come out clean after statistical analysis is done. Statistical analysis is basically the study of the features of inbound and outbound links. These characteristics maybe include the number of inbound and outbound links on or to a page within a certain site. When these traits are put together in a graph, they tend to form a certain gentle curve except if the site is a spam. This is what determines whether a site is natural or not.

According to SEO industry, inbound links diversity is very crucial to them because it enables them to see the linking relationship. They recommend getting links from other diverse sources rather than only obtaining links from directories. The reason why every site owner is struggling to have their site look natural is that this is the criteria that Google uses to dispense or sustain a certain site. It is used to differentiate between a spam and a genuine site.
Google has now advanced their scrutiny by using modern link analysis which uses a certain set of trusted sites to calculate how far a ranking site is from the trusted site. Previously, if only a spammed site could do more of non-optimized links to their unnatural links, they could appear stable and normal, but that’s long gone. Currently, non-optimized links cannot anymore hide bad links, hence spam can be found very easily using this method called Penguin.

This is to mean, that link diversity cannot anymore control what a natural link is. There is no measuring of the distance between the trusted site and the other site that want to use; it’s all about the quality of the site that a certain link is connected to. That is to tell you that, link diversity is a long gone fable and probably it should be discarded as one of the factors that affect SEO. Nowadays, search engines only use the link diversity to relate various sites and identify their relationship.

Link diversity is used in search engines not only to get spammers but also to remove irrelevant links; taking away the noise so as to be left with the signal. It is good to know that no research papers or patents use link diversity in their ranking.
