Shrinking maternity clothes

Expecting ladies usually wear their clothes for a short period of time. After giving birth, most of their clothing becomes too large and therefore unsuitable to wear.
The task has been set to extend the wearing time of maternity clothes. A garment, like a human skin, has to adapt easily to any changes in a lady’s shape: stretching during pregnancy and, what is even more important, shrinking back in the belly’s area after giving birth, so that the clothing could be worn again, as a fit garment.

To accomplish this idea two different materials was chosen.
1. Resistance fiber when washing in high temperature/  ivory color.
2. Shrinking fiber when washing in high temperature/  black color.
Combining two different materials in belly area, was designed knitted garment.
In order to retain the product easily stretching and elastic, it is recommended to wash it at lower temperature, 30C, gentle mode, during the entire time of pregnancy.
After giving birth, when shrinking of the product is needed in the belly’s area, it is recommended to wash it just once at temperature above 50C, gentle mode. Belly area of the garment will shrink, but breast area- will stay the same. After that, wash it at 30C temperature.
This design solution with the use of two different fibers of the same color, although invisible in the product, performs an important function.
Such use of two different fibers may be widely applied in manufacturing of knitwear, especially seamless knitwear and sportswear.
This design solution can also be applied in production of a wide range of maternity clothing, from underwear to warm sweaters.
