Case Study: Waldorf School of San Diego

Client: Waldorf School of San Diego
Role: Art Direction and Lead Designer

The Waldorf School of San Diego (WSSD) is a nursery through 12th grade non-profit educational entity located in City Heights area of San Diego. The school's curriculum is based on the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Anthroposophy. WSSD's pedagogy emphasizes the role of imagination in learning, striving to integrate the intellectual, practical, and artistic development of students in a holistic manner.

Every year the school's fundraising and development committee holds a gala event to generate funds that offset the school's operating expenses. Our challenge is to visually communicate a mood and theme for the event while attracting high dollar philanthropic attendees who are willing to assist the school and the financial challenges it may face year to year. Attendees have followed the visual lead we create and have arrived to recent events in 30's flapper dresses and suits, nautical attire, and tropical outfits from Cuban social clubs of yesterday. The past few years have illustrated an impressive level of success where the school has exceeded over 100k in revenue.
