HAHA is a small ceramic sculptural object measuring 20 cm in height. It is slip-cast in Faenza and it can be considered a work of
3D typography with a cinematic twist: the rotation of the object along a vertical axis produces the vision of a perpetual “haha”…. or “ahah” if you prefer laughing in Italian language (yeah, this little marvel is also bilingual. LOL). It is being manufactured as
a numbered edition of 300 with a matte black enamel finish.

The whole process started with a sketch on my notebook, then perfectioned as a 3D CAD drawing. A study model was made to
verify proportions. From the drawing I obtained a cutting path that was used to produced a perfect outline of the A letter in clear plexyglass.
It was used as a jig to make a plaster master shape. From the master shape two semi-molds made of 5 parts each were obtained. The two halves of a HAHA are joined when the clay is leather-hard using slurry. The logo is stamped with a purposely made tool and then the piece is ready for
the first fire. After glazing it is fired again and ready to go. The hands you see in the video belong to A.Z., the very talented and skilled
ceramic artist who assisted me during the whole manufacturing process.
