Indie Horror Film Fest
Project Brief:
I was asked to design a poster brochure for a 10 week Indie Horror Film Festival. The poster is 22 x 33 inches , and is folded as a 5.5 x 11 inches brochure. The main goal of the poster was to efficiently and creatively design large amounts of information with a system that would complement both in a zoomed out poster scale & a detailed brochure scale.
Concept:
To get a better understanding of the Indie Horror genre and to understand the essence of the film fest, I watched all the movies that will be shown during the festival. I noticed the tunneling camera work that is often used in the films to create tension & suspense. In the movie, "Get Out", the use of the almost tunnel vision like camera work really inspired me to bring that aesthetic back into the poster to create an eerie visual tension. To organize the large amount information that needed to be included in the poster, I used a system of putting red lines instead of spelling out the months to reduced redundancy. I also put the detailed description of the film fest on the edges of the paper to show more of the tension and suspense that the movies show; also, it creates a more interactive brochure for the readers.
