#PartyFever

Did you ever find yourself doing something that makes your heart smile?  Something that consumes your mind (in a good way), takes up all your time (whilst neglecting general life survival requirements (ie housework, cooking, child rearing!) and takes over your house? This is me 3 times a year.  It starts months before the key date usually as vague discussions with the hero of the dish (ie birthday child) about things they like, movies they enjoy, a theme that might work.  It will then pretty quickly implode to manic Pinterest searching, idea documenting, multiple visits to Spotlight or Kmart (#heavenonearth) or the local craft shop to get more ideas.  It then culminates in a flurry of paper and scissors and glue and sticky dots and rearranging furniture and so SO much excitement.  And that's before the kids have even stepped foot into the house.

I call it #PartyFever

 And I love it!

My particular brand of #PartyFever derives from a few places:

1. My childhood of wonderful birthday parties at home (for me and my siblings) and at my friends.  We grew up in a tiny country town (tiny = 14 kids in my school kind of tiny, of which my siblings and I made up 4 of that number so...super tiny).  There were no options for birthday parties other than a party at home with all the good things - pass the parcel, musical chairs, a cake from the oracle (Women's Weekly Birthday Cake book) and fairy bread.
My mums - and now mine - well loved, well perused oracle!
2. My love for all the great kids movies.  The Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sound of Music, Mary Poppins.  These movies always made me want to step through the TV screen and into the set.  When I'm mid #PartyFever with one of these themes, I feel like I'm in the movie, I'm on the set, I'm singing with the cast And. I. Love. It.
Some examples of my #PartyFever
3. My imagination + my aim to create something unique for my children.  I love the idea that they are experiencing parties that they will remember forever, that are authentic to them and our family.

So - if you are someone who enjoys a bit of #PartyFever - this may be the place for you!
