Adobe Design Achievement Awards

This project was actually created for an assignment that was included as one of the
four design works, exhibited in my section of the classes exhibition held at the end of last year, but there was only the logo and the fettuccine pasta packaging done. As a extension to the already developed brand, I decided to add two more products to promote; penne pasta and ravioli. As Italian is one of my favorite cuisines to cook (and eat), this was the inspiration behind the creation of a self devised company called 'Nonnas kitchen', with 'Nonna 'translating to a grandmother. The aim that the company strives for is creating fresh, authentic Italian food for the consumer to enjoy. After coming up with the name, they needed some branding to promote themselves. The target audiences consists of people who's interest in cooking is stemmed from using the most authentic, freshest ingredients available when making everything homemade as possible, but are looking for a alternative solution.

The three colours shown below the brand name serves two purposes; to represent the country of origin as the colours are shared with the flag, and to provide the distinction between the name and tagline. The grungy texture over the flag and wooden spoon was the element that was missing to represent the rustic, homely value contained in the product, setting the style for the three packaging designs.

The main concept for the packaging involves showing a hand written recipe on all sides of the box, that a Italian grandmother would've written into a old cook book. The writing clipped into the shape of the pasta machine, penne and ravioli was created by firstly photographing those three objects, then secondly tracing those three in illustrator to get the solid shape for the writing to sit into.
