Sam De Jesus- Custom Logo Process

I was very excited to work with an incredible artisan, Sam De Jesus (you can view his work here), on creating the perfect logo for his brand and work. Seeing his mascot is an evil frog- we worked on developing some possible concepts for his new brand and name. This project shows how I work with my thumbnails and concepts from start to finish.

Below are some of the first and original thumbnails to establish a direction for the project.
Font choice was also an interesting concept. Originally the idea was to go with a video game look and feel- so I did as I usually do, research fonts- check the usages and licenses involved to make sure they were legal and allowed for commercial purposes.

Below were some concepts including a font.
Sam De Jesus thought up a great idea- combining the first and second concepts (top, above) together- resulting in this concept below. He also had a font he was using prior on his business cards which was then established into the logo.

The font used required an alternative license for commercial use, so I also corresponded with the creator as well as with Sam De Jesus to go over the terms, in protection to him and his work.
Above are some thumbnails with different nostrils. We went through a series of various other thumbnails for the positions of the nostril as well.

Below is the final result of the chosen design and logo.
And to top it all off- as I usually do, I made a presentation to showcase the project.
