Mother Nature: Camping in Oregon

Mother Nature: Camping in Oregon
Initial Idea
This was probably one of the most challenging projects I have worked on this year. I collaborated with a writer to create editorial content for his article. After considering his proposal and initial concept of what the article would be I accepted. A few days after we made the arrangements I was able to read a rough draft of what he wanted to portray. Essentially what I understood was the idea of camping out in nature and experiencing what the natural world had to offer; specifically Mother Nature.
Concept Sketches
Taking my idea to paper was a difficult but intriguing process as I continued to consider all the aspects that I could depict camping and Mother Nature. It was difficult trying to break out of the mold of the standard idea of camping. As I consulted and gained feedback from mentors I was able to realize that I could depict Mother Nature in a variety of ways.
Compositions and Value
After sifting through several sketches I came up with a few ideas that I could potentially design or photograph to create my layout over the next couple of weeks.
The Shoot
I reached out to a friend of mine who was willing to portray the role of Mother Nature for me, and we were able to find a beautiful and immersive environment that helped me bring my vision to life. I also needed to make sure that I had various foliage and flowers that I would be using in the post editing process.
Photoshop Magic
The possibilities are endless with photoshop. However, the challenges are still the same. It took me several hours to turn transform and depict my friend as Mother Nature. I wanted to capture the feeling of life and vibrancy, but I wanted to do it in a way where it wasn't the standard color of green. The warm colors and the extravagant headpiece I feel truly bring theses photos together.
