Turtles are endangered worldwide & are a rare sight in Singapore. In order to ensure the preservation for future generations, NParks requested for public volunteers to do regular morning beach patrols to search for potential turtle nesting sites.
In appreciation for the participation of volunteers in the turtle beach patrol hosted by Singapore's National Parks, I illustrated a turtle & engraved the design on a transpancent acrylic using a laser cutter machine.
I wanted to create a design that would allow the volunteers to remember the impact & importance of their contributions in patrolling for turtles even though they may not have found any turtles at all.
i illustrated on abstract tribal sun on the back of the turtle, signifying hope. As seeing turtles was a sign of hope for future generations of turtles.
