Kolmanskop is an installation for the group exhibition ROOMS 2013 organised by Kappatos Gallery.  The idea came up by the so called ghost town in Namimbia. A town which is abandoned since the 50s and all these years is sinking into the sand of the desert.  I was also inspired by the character of Lucky from Beckett's Waiting for Godot who is carrying a suitcase full of sand. This combination led me to this installation which starts with a comment on the vain luxury of a hotel room but furthermore Kolmanskop for me symbolizes the pointless struggle for existence. No matter how hard we try to protect ourselves,it's inevitable: the reality will invade from the windows and the time nulifies all the things that surrounds us.
