Publication Design
The brief required us to design and hand craft an illustrated book with the intention of creating awareness for a societal, political or environmental issue.
My concept was based on the endangerment of the Whale Shark. These sea creatures are becoming endangered due to various human practices that are mentioned in the book. I created this book with the intention of raising awareness to the public about this problem.
I have created links between the ocean, space and whale sharks as I find they have similarities. They are big, mysterious and there is so much more to research and findings to be done about them. That is why in my illustrations, I have changed the sea into space and incorporated sea and space elements together, including the whale sharks swimming through space.
Physical Books & Belly Band
Use of tracing paper between spreads and watercolour as a primary medium in order to create a dreamlike feel. This is to indicate Whale Sharks as a distant memory if they eventually become extinct.
