Circuito - The Electric Sound Box

Sound
Circuito is an instrument that uses the idea of electricity flow through a structured and controllable circuitry system. The concept looks at taking an old circuitry system and reconstructing it to become a new musical instrument. What you see is a replica of the old radio boardcasting system with a combination of circuit breakers and power system that we use in recent days. This combination becomes our interface whereby each control on the interface triggers or interacts with another control which changes or produces electrical sounds.

The sounds were based on the theme of electricity flow which vary from time since the old days of mono sounds to our everyday life sounds such as the sound of a our television static to even a lighbulb striking. Some of these sounds would even be considered as noise to several people. However, what we are challenging here is for participants to create a musical piece with sounds that are not considered musical, creating beats and combinations. With every control being triggered through a period of user participation, we would be able to hear a soundscape of electricity flow. This has become a musical piece determined by participants.
