Alexandre Dubor's profile

Valchromat Portrait

In this research, we explore the material effects that can emerge from the articulation between design, fabrication and material parameters, using a Valcromat Panel (3 layer colored mdf) and a milling machine.
With this study case, we used a pop art image of Théo to explore depth and color change as well as machinic path. The final result is using a fast way to produce the panel (only 24min of milling time) meanwhile letting the tool trace on the material in an abstract fashion.

Research envisioned by Alexandre Dubor, Anna Kulik and Theodoros Grousopoulos,
at the Institure of Advanced Architecture of Catalunya & Fab Lab Barcelona,
guided by Edouard Cabay as main tutor,
