Artist's Statement
For this flag I decided to incorporate the basic elements of the previous flag while giving it a cleaner, more refined, and meaningful look. I used the exact red from the Texas flag and the white and blue from the previous Houston flag. The color scheme also closely resembles that of NASA's logo. I did this because the NASA mission control center is located in Houston and Houston is known as the "Space City" because of this.  The large blue section at the bottom symbolizes the water of the Houston ship channel, which is very important to the Houston economy. The curved lines around the center star represent Houston's distinctly complex and massive highway system. Finally, the red star in the middle represents the Texas lone star and it represents Houston's position as the urban hub of Texas.
