L’idea progettuale del logo per "Matera 2019 - OPEN FUTURE" prende forma dal forte impatto visivo che porte e finestre conferiscono alla visione morfologica della città dei Sassi. Espressione dell’identità e della cultura del luogo, esse sono metafora dell’apertura della città e dei suoi abitanti al futuro ed allo stesso tempo della volontà di includere la cultura europea tutta, di esserne parte e custode.
Porte e finestre quindi sono stati gli elementi geometrici cardine su cui si è posta l’attenzione e perciò in seguito evidenziati estraendoli dal contesto e andando a formare una trama visiva.

The design concept of the logo "Matera 2019 - OPEN FUTURE" takes shape from the strong visual impact that doors and windows give to the morphological vision of the "Sassi" (stones) city. Expression of the identity and culture of the place, they are a metaphor of the city and its inhabitants opening to the future and at the same time the desire to include, be part and guardian the whole European culture.
Doors and windows, therefore, were the pivotal geometric elements on which the attention was placed and therefore later highlighted by extracting them from the context and forming a visual plot.
