After a few weeks I've finally finished the beginning of my font and moving onto the finishing touches in Glyphs. The only problem is that Glyphs are on the new computers arriving (thanks Skocko) so I'll have to wait a bit to actually start on it.
Before I finished, I turned every individual character into a svg file. Thanks to Mary Winkler's "How to Create a Font in Adobe Illustrator" for getting me this far without any trouble and "A beautifully Illustrated Glossary of Typographic Terms You Should Know" for giving me basic knowledge for typography.
O, Q, and 0 will be fixed eventually, presumably in glyphs so I don't make an uneven circle or oval, but that may take away from the natural handwriting feeling this font has. After I finish this font, I'll probably not do another font that's basically my hand writing, but instead go for something more straight, incorporation-y with a twist of calligraphic swashs. Basically a font that'll work on an essay, but it won't look so basic that it puts you to sleep. Another idea is a marker type of idea, like the impact font but different in someway, I'll figure it out once I get there.
Just starting out using Glyphs and it's pretty different, I'll have to get used to using the pen tool. Maybe a good idea would be outline a thick font than use an odd brush over it to make a cool font, the possibilities seem endless here it'll take some time.
