Dartington Bird Hide

To begin 2nd Year I took part in a design competition set by The Dartington Hall Trust. The brief was to design a small bird hide to be situated at Queen's Marsh, Dartington with a goal to create a space suitable for both veteran and novice birdwatchers. This project coincided with a scheme going on at Queen's Marsh restoring the old marshland to encourage new species and ecosystems  across the estate.
The above are a few images from my teams design proposal. Our proposal was unsuccessful in the competition, however it was still an incredibly beneficial experience for me being able to present to a real client and work alongside other students from 2nd and 3rd year to learn and develop new skills.
These are images of the final Bird Hide after we had finished construction. The construction process of the Bird Hide became our Technology submission for Semester 1, which allowed me the opportunity to reflect on all the tasks I had undertaken during construction (Construction Logbook can be seen on request).
I find these live projects particularly beneficial, being able to experience a project all the way from initial brief through to completion gives me a greater respect and understanding for the process and all those involved.
