Legends & Lanterns - Mrs. Lovett
Legends & Lanterns began in 2016 as a new immersive experience. Taking it's inspiration from folklore, fiction, and the Victorian era, this interactive event explores the history of and our love for, Halloween.
The St. Charles City Media Department worked closely with the St. Charles Tourism Department to create a whimsical and informative PSA that would give viewers a taste of what they would experience during Legends & Lanterns.
The PSA was part 1 of a 3 part series that has been shared across several social platforms, shown on our government access channel, and sent out in our eNews updates.
The reaction to the video has been very positive.
The Legends & Lanterns: Mrs. Lovett PSA helped to create an atmosphere of macabre delight around the Legend & Lanterns event itself. In the hope of creating a buzz among potential attendees.
Our objective in making the piece was to create a high quality, engaging PSA to help convey the overall Legend & Lanterns experience to the general public. The event itself grew significantly in 2017 and attendance was much higher than 2016. I would say the spot was successful.
I used After Effects for the coloration and vignette effects. The end title was finalized in PhotoShop. I felt adding sepia to the video gave the project a nice vintage look, while the vignette created a fantasy/horror feel.
