Conference Branding

Brief:
Develop a brand that contains the uniqueness of the conference location while alluding to its mission of spreading awareness of alcohol & drug abuse programs across California.

Concept:
The symbol in the conference signature contains multiple significant elements. The arch which contains the symbol is inspired by the romanesque architectural qualities of Laxon Auditorium and Kendall Hall on the Chico State Campus. A road is seen winding through the greenery that defines Chico, while its bluish color also represents Big Chico creek that runs through the university. The sun’s hemispherical shape is
either a sunrise or a sunset, depending on how the viewer first sees it.
The sun represents the warmth that surrounds the Chico population, both in the weather and the locals’ friendliness. It is also a symbol of consistency and hope for those affected by alcohol & drug abuse, for the sun always rises and always sets, and no matter what else changes in our lives, we keep moving forward.
