The Rosas Family Crest

The Rosas Family Crest
In class, we have been talking about using Illustrator to create amazing and unique logos and icons. We were put to the test by using Illustrator to create icons and logos to add them onto a crest that represents our family. We had to talk to our family, come up with some ideas from sources that inspired us, and finally add them to our final crest.
The first step in creating my crest was to talk to my family about what all of us enjoy and who we are. In the image above, my family had said that all of us were Arizona Cardinals fans, we love to hear and play music, we are religious, we are Mexicans and originated from Mexico, and our last name means roses in Spanish.
The next step is to draw sketches of what icons and logos we want to include in our crests and sketch ideas of our crests too. I came up with a lot of icons, but some icons did not fit or were to complicated to make.
Now it was time to get into Adobe Illustrator. The image above is my workspace. I kept some icons to the side so that I could change the color or style of it if necessary. A banner was here to see if I would like it on my crest but none of my crests looked good with the banner.
I made 4 different crests before deciding my final version. The 1st crest was my last crest before the final version. I liked the shape of it and the icons, including the color. Many classmates liked that version as well. The 2nd and 3rd crests were copies of the 1st crest and made with different colors. The last crest was my first version. I did not like it that much. The shape of the crest was a little basic and fat. The icons didn't look great in certain places and the name could have been in a better spot.
I managed to come up with this crest as my final decision. It is like the crest before making this but instead includes wings of the eagle on the Mexico flag. The Cardinals logo is my favorite, it is a mix of a Hecho in México logo that someone made and the Cardinals logo. This represents that my family are Cardinals fans and that we originated from Mexico "Made in Mexico." The name is in the center of the crest and an Arizona flag is shown on the top of the crest to show that we live in Arizona. The cross represents our religion. The musical notes represent our family's love for music. The rose is for our last name "Rosas" which means Roses in English. I love the crest and especially the shape of it, and it represents my family very well.
