Virtual Environment for orientating new students to the Maritime campus
As part of my final project for my degree I had to implement a working product that was based upon my literature review and case study research.

The project was investigate whether using a virtual environment/ virtual world would help orientating students on arrival in finding buildings, lecture theatres, labs and tutorials classes.

As part of my final project for my degree I had to implement a working product that was based upon my literature review and case study research.

Due to using Adobe Director and the 3D shockwave component the models had to be of a low polygon count (complexity). However the buildings were designed by taking multiple pictures of each of the buildings and used as a template to build high polygon buildings. Bitmaps were taken from the high spec buildings and mapped on to single primitive shapes to lower the polygon count.

Menu for the virtual environment. This allows users to indentify controls.

An accessibility page was added to allow users to indentify how people with disabilities can control there way around
       the application.
Audio is throughout the virtual environment to help visually aided users and a simplistic map has also been added for
motor impaired users who may not be able to use a keyboard.
From the two pictures above, this is what can be seen on the virtual environment. The first screen shot is how the user
would be seen as moving around the campus. They could enter the buildings by clicking on the particular buildings
       they wish to enter.

The second screen shot is if the user wants to see a basic version of the virtual environment. They can hover over
each of the buildings to enter them.
