Why I chose this object
The “Mubkhar” is a precious object in my family. It holds the scent of our culture and tradition. In each household, you will find this item around somewhere. Each gathering you attend, there will be a mubkhar passed around. The mubkhar I chose for this project, belongs to my mother.  As you can see, it is worn out, with all the cracks and scratches due to its daily use of it. It is a simple pyramid design, that is made out of wood. In each face of the pyramid, you can see holes in an Islamic pattern, through which the smoke escapes. The mubkhar is most commonly used before Friday prayer. The scent of it fills the air.

I love the scent of the mubkhar. It gives me the feeling of peace and serenity. It also reminds me of home and our Friday gatherings. Each mubkhar holds a special meaning to the person owning it, where each mubkhar holds its own unique scent.
