Chevron murals and office dividers
Bringing colour and image to a corporate office environment
Chevron Oil asked me to create a series of murals and office dividers to brighten up their new corporate offices in Aberdeen. This work was part of a broader commission to design a wayfinding and signage system to help staff and visitors navigate through the large, open-plan building. I used colour and image coding to identify the different wings of the building. Themes of earth, rock, sand and water were selected for the four principal workspace areas, with the theme of fire selected for the meeting and conference zone.

I created digitally-enhanced photographic images to express each combination of colour and theme. Very large curved canvas prints were used to fit recesses in core area walls. Semi-transparent banners helped to break up large open-plan office areas. Wall murals created points of visual interest in the workspace. Each zone was given a very different character and navigation around the building was enhanced by a co-ordinated system of signage, also using the images and colour themes.
