Collective memory

Collective memory
This project is inspired by the book “In search of lost time” by Marcel Proust. In it, the narrator, while drinking tea and eating a madeleine, is faced with a feeling of involuntary memory that bears the "essence" of the past. It is this loop from concrete to abstract that in its complexity pushed us to make a loose association between tea bags and memory. Used objects carry traces of memory and in that case i could “see” the tea bag as a holder of memories of its consumer. Depending on the temperature of the water, how much time it was brewed and how it was discarded the “scars” on the tea bag tell their own story of events. Inspired by the words of poet Etel Adnan “Memory sews together events that hadn’t previously met” we started sewing together tea bags in an effort to give them a new meaning and purpose, that of a visualized collective memory.
