Portugal: ponto a ponto
Santa Casa, the entity that runs the Portuguese Lottery, made a call for entries for an illustration for its April 16th, 2013 draw. Their aim is to captivate new audiences among younger and female publics, and the proposed theme was "Portugality".
I searched for symbols of our cultural and natural heritages and illustrated them through embroidery, a traditionally important expressive outlet. The chosen colors reflect the importance of the azulejo (painted ceramic tiles), a technique left by the Islamic influence Portugal had for centuries.
