The Naked Disko @ Kerapia Experimental City Lab Event

We had a course called "Tilapioneerit", where we created multiple concepts for an empty logistic hall in Espoo. As we were talking about possibilities, I got bored of people constantly saying we need sponsors and money to make something memorable. As bit of a joke, I said "well, we could just have a room with music and everyone takes their clothes off and dance." This idea started to have a life of it's own, as it became most beloved idea for everyone in the course. So we had to do it! And do it well.

In the end the Naked Disco, the "Nakudisko", was a huge success, I was playing music there with my friend and the atmosphere was quite unique, everyone felt like they are experiencing something special. In the end we could not take more people in, there was around 30 people already dancing with smoke machine, UV -paints and -lights, glitter and super nice, somehow unique special fibe. It was during the day for three hours, people were sober and danced like crazy. Some people had travelled for the occasion from other cities, even 3 hours distance, just to be there.
Nakudisko was also reported quite much in media before the event, for example:

Course description:
"What would you do with an empty industrial building? Come to Espoo and experience Kerapia, the Experimental Culture event full of interaction, urban culture, activities and arts."

The empty logistic hall before the course. The Nakudisko was one part of a bigger culture festival called Kerapia, that changed the hall totally for one day.
And the logistic hall with the Kerapia event. Kerapia is a word play from the words "Kera" (name of the area where the hall was located) and "terapia" (meaning therapy), that I came up with as a joke. Then it kind of got stuck on everyone's head and was decided to be the name of the event.
Some signs to guide people, but there was always a greeter at the door giving instructions and also responsible people touring the area, naked for sure like everyone else, checking that everything went as planned, people behaved and had fun.
The Nakudisko was decorated with clothes, smoke and UV-lights. People had a change to wear a readymade mask or decorate one for themselves, paint themselves with UV-paints or glitter.
Just before the Nakudiso started, a nervous DJ. I have been arranging many parties during the ten past years but I have to say there was something quite unique in this event, I have never seen people to take so much positive contact to each other, share so many smiles and laughs, and danced together like some crazy tribe like there would be no tomorrow.
