Tribo Hamer

Localiza-se no vale do Omo, uma região no sul da Etiópia. É um povo extremamente supersticioso e da especial atenção a passagem para vida madura, o sexo é uma constante nas suas conversas, alimentam-se de milho cozido em agua e bebem sangue das vacas e cabras para serem forte como elas.

Este povo e caracterizado por meterem pequenos objectos no seu corpo em especial parte os lábios e orelhas, o outro habito e criar escarificações no seu corpo acreditando que este é o sinal padrão de beleza e força. Chegada a idade adulta as mulheres entre os 14 e 15 anos de idade são colocadas um disco no lábio inferior como significado de maturidade, quanto maior for o disco maior é o dote que se deve pagar ao querer casar uma mulher Hamer.

É deste modo que me inspirei neste belo povo cheio de tradições para criar estas pequenas pinturas digitais, tento incorporar nelas um bocado de algumas praticas deste povo neste caso as escarificações, sendo este um dos elementos presentes em algumas pinturas, a forma esquisita como o corpo é representado deve-se ao animal que os Hamer consideram especial a Vaca, que é fonte de alimentação e símbolo de poder de uma determinada família, por este motivo optei por pegar uma pequena parte deste animal neste caso os "chifres" para representação dos corpos.

Hamer Tribe

It is located in the Omo Valley, a region in southern Ethiopia. It is an extremely superstitious people and of special attention the passage to mature life, sex is a constant in their conversations, they feed on corn cooked in water and drink blood from cows and goats to be strong like them.

This people is characterized by small objects in their body, especially their lips and ears, the other inhabit and create scarification in their body believing that this is the sign, standard of beauty and strength. Arriving into adulthood women between the ages of 14 and 15 are placed a disc in the lower lip as meaning maturity, the larger the disc the greater the dowry that one should pay when wanting to marry a Hamer woman.

It is in this way that I inspired myself in this beautiful people full of traditions to create these small digital paintings, I try to incorporate in them a lot of some practices of this people in this case the scarifications, being this one of the elements present in some paintings, the weird form as the body is represented is due to the animal that the Hamer consider special the Cow, that it is source of power and symbol of power of a determined family, for this reason I chose to take a small part of this animal in this case the "horns" for representation of the bodies .
