What is the importance of 'guides' in visual art form creation?
And, what role do they play in the development of medium understanding?
The Oxford dictionary defines 'guidance' as:
1.a) advice or information aimed at resolving a problem, difficulty, etc
b) leadership or direction
2. the process of guiding or being guided; navigation, esp. by instruments

The below work is a canvas study inspired by the learning process and its relationship as seen through the student and teacher.
The practice of visual art creation is an interesting study on how creative development happens in two contexts: 1.) the traditional guidance sense and the other 2.)medium understanding through creative experimentation.
The value of having 'guidance' be it informal or formal is that it provides critical feedback on one's progress and process. It can be external (i.e.) the teacher student anaolgy or internal coming from within surfacing with each new observation of the object(s) in process.
