Cover and concept design for the World Children's Classics series.

The publisher asked me to create cover designs for their upcoming children's classics series. These types of series usually feature works with expired copyrights, and many publishers choose the same titles to publish. The preference for quality translations becomes a determining factor for discerning readers.

I wanted to design a series that would stand out from other publishers on the shelves, carrying a collector's value. The titles of well-known books, which everyone is familiar with in some way, appear familiar at first glance (!) but make the reader take a second look. Instead of using brand-new illustrations to emphasize fidelity to the original text, I hid (or made visible) the illustrations or portraits of the authors used in the first editions within the title. Unfortunately, the publisher rejected this project due to the budget constraints related to image copyrights.
