Snow Day - Bullet Journaling in Anamorphic Bokeh
Woke up this morning to a few inches of snow on the ground, and some canceled plans. Got a little stir crazy and decided to try out something i did way back in film school. Taping a shape in front of a lens to shape the bokeh. Back then, we always did it to make distant point lights in to stars, but today i decided to see if i could use it to give a vintage Helios 44-2 a nice anamorphic quality. So here's the rig i came up with on my trusty hacked GH2:
I turned the shape 90 degrees, because i liked the horizontally smeared quality it gave.

Now for a subject. My girlfriend happened to be bullet journaling, so I filmed that as well as some general snow day stuff.

Then I tossed this video together to see how the texture played out across some different shots.

Let me know what you think.
