Media Writing is a core curriculum course for communications students. In this class, students enhance their writing skills and act as journalists. I attended numerous events on campus, and wrote news articles, news/ radio scripts, and press releases on deadline.
Each semester, Elon University brings a speaker to campus for Convocation. In the Spring of 2012, the speaker was microfinance pioneer Muhammad Yunus. The event occurred during the afternoon of a weekday, and the article had a 1:00AM deadline. I was also given the assignment of writing a shorter article tailored for the internet, as well as a press release.
